Boat building

Through history the sea has been a significant source of nutrition and income for the Nordic costal areas. Before the arrival of modern technology, small wooden boats were used for fishing and hunting in these areas. Although the purpose of these boats was the same, they all developed differently in each area. To keep the heritage alive many traditional wooden boats are now being built or renovated in the NORCE project area. A special Boat dictionary, which contains  boat and sailing vocabulary and examples of traditional boats from the NORCE area, is also in the making
