Map of Þingeyjarsýsla Region
Type of wildlife experience
Whale watching has been a growing business in the area's largest town, Húsavík, which sometimes is called the "Whale watching capital of Europe" (although not formally certified as such).
This north eastern region of Iceland is also popular birding destination. One of the areas projects recently has been the marking of good birding spots and the publication of a special birding brochure.
Seals, foxes and minks can also be spotted through the area.
