Eysturoy Tourism Association

Eysturoy is the second largest island in Faroe Islands. It is lying in the centre of the country and you can reach all parts of the country with bus or ferry. Eysturoy Tourism Association was founded in 1995 and all the communities on the island are among the participants. They agreed to start 2 information offices, and there are tourist information offices in Runavík and Fuglafjørð

The Tourism Association main purpose is:

  • Develop and inform about tourism possibilities together with other areas.
  • Develop and produce information material on print, web and signboards.
  • Coordinate interesting tourist arrangements, excursions and similar arrangements.
  • Influence tour operators to take our destinations in their programmes so that a fair profit is left back at the local operators.

In the light of these 4 points the Tourism Association wants to join the NORCE project.

In addition we want to use the resources from our 5 local museums. The museum want to improve and make new exhibitions, and they want to make printed material in foreign languages.

The nature up north on Eysturoy gives many opportunities for people who are interested in watching birds etc.
